5th Grade


Objectives:
  • Reinforce Notes In Review
  • Learn and reinforce whole notes/rests
  • Distribute practice logs

Middle School


6th

Objectives:
  • Rehearse EE. Scales
  • Rehearse Winter Concert music
Warm-Up:
  • EE Pg. 40 Eb, F, Ab #1, 2
  • Chromatic
Music Rehearsal:
  1. The Sound and the Fury
    1. Isolate passages between flute and clarinets
    2. Reinforce slurred melody lines in alto sax and trumpet
    3. Isolate trumpet solo section
    4. Focus on dynamics throughout
  2. Change of Pace
    1. Isolate the four measure repeated section with 3/4 and 2/4
    2. Rehearse the D.C. transition back to the beginning and the CODA
    3. Isolate the B section for correct pitches and rhythms between clar/sax and trumpet/low brass
  3. Frosty the Snowman
    1. Isolate B section with woodwinds
    2. Rehearse transitions between sections
    3. Begin incorporating dynamics
    4. Work with clarinet 1 on upper note part

      2. continue reinforcing tempo
    2. Begin working with upper woodwinds on the march section passage
      1. Reinforce grace notes in flute, clarinet, and alto sax
    3. Continue isolating the closing section developing tempo and isolating the alternating section between trombones and saxes

    1. Rehearse opening section
      1. Isolate percussion parts and add articulations
      2. Correct clarinet pitches
    2. Fast Section
      1. Isolate trombone parts at fast section
      2. Isolate upper woodwind eighth note section

    1. Holiday Piece
      1. Continue rehearsing opening section with percussion to increase tempo
      2. Isolate closing measures to incorporate suspended cymbal roll/choke
      3. Work on clarinet runs
    2. Novo Lenio
      1. Isolate percussive section for trumpets
      2. Isolate percussion parts at the fast section
      3. Begin rehearsing dynamic shaping in opening and closing sections
      4. Develop transition between slow and fast sections
    3. God of Our Fathers
      1. Work to develop speed in 6/8 section in brass parts and percussion
      2. Isolate rhythms in the closing section in brass
      3. Possibly switch all brass to cup mutes
