Nov. 4-8 Happenings

5th Grade


Objectives:
  • Rehearse Pg. 7-8, focusing on note reading and manipulating quarter, half, and whole notes and rests
  • Move to new note on Pg. 8
Warm-Up:
  • Pg. 6 “Notes in Review” low to high and back in quarter and eighth notes
Music Rehearsal:
  1. Discuss whole notes and count/perform
    1. EE. Pg. 7 all exercises working whole notes
    2. Divide class on the duet and switch parts on the repeat
    3. Pg. 8 learn concert G note
    4. Begin exercises on Pg. 8
    5. Remind students of concert timeline and set goal to get to #38

Middle School


6th

Objectives:
  • Rehearse major scales from EE Book
  • Rehearse Winter Concert Pieces
Warm-Up:
  • EE Pg. 40 Bb, Eb, F, Ab #1, 2

Music Rehearsal:
  1. Variations on a French Carol
    1. Discuss articulation style in section with eighth rests
    2. Begin developing dynamic shaping
    3. Continue to develop accents throughout
  2. A Celebration Overture
    1. Isolate middle 3/4 section
    2. Rehearse transitions into fermatas and back to the D.S.
    3. Bring out low brass and tenor sax line throughout

    1. Isolate passages with multiple accidentals
    2. Continue working moving clarinet passages
    3. Begin developing increasing

      1. Establish style of piece
      2. Isolate first half of piece focusing on entrance and exit points
    5. Run through God Bless America and Navy Hymn as time permits
