  • Continue working on Chromatic
  • Distribute sheet music pieces
  • Begin work on Concert Bb Scale on EE Pg. 28
Warm-Up:
  1. Pg. 12 Tone Builder/Rhythm Etude
  2. Chromatic Scale (extend to full octave)
  3. Pg. 28 #147 Concert Bb
    1. Begin by identifying new notes in all instruments
      1. Assign students to look up the notes in the fingering chart
    2. Perform one at a time
    3. Perform full scale
Music Rehearsal:
  1. Distribute full band pieces and begin reading

Middle School

    1. Work moving eighth passages to develop more speed
    2. Reinforce proper rest counting in percussion 
    3. Begin identifying dynamic contrasts and articulations throughout

    1. Work opening section to develop more speed 
    2. Rehearse transition into 3/4
    3. Rehearse entire slow section and develop musical shaping

    1. Rehearse eighth note passage at tempo change in woodwinds

    1. Isolate introduction and correct entrances and rhythms in woodwinds
    2. Begin to rehearse grace-note passages in melody

High School

Music Rehearsal:
    1. Les Miserables
      1. Isolate arpeggios in opening section and bring out low voices
      2. Isolate triplet figures in final section
      3. Begin developing shaping of phrases
    2. Ye Banks and Braes
      1. Percussion can rehearse ensemble during wind rehearsal
      2. Identify like moving parts throughout and develop listening strategy
      3. Begin to incorporate dynamic shaping and balance 
    3. Chorale and Shaker Dance
      1. Isolate second half of the piece to complete initial read through
      2. Reinforce opening passage with syncopated entrances for accuracy
      3. Distribute percussion parts, final assignments
