Objectives:
  • Read and rehearse full band pieces

  2. Rehearse Chromatic Scale from Concert Bb to Concert F

  1. Let’s Rock
    1. Rehearse in sections focusing on accurate rest counting
    2. Identify melody vs harmony/supporting parts
    3. Goal to perform full runs

Objectives:
  • Rehearse Pieces, focusing on dynamics
Warm-Up:
  1. EE Pg. 40 #1, 2 in all four keys
  2. Bb Chromatic Scale
Music Rehearsal:
  1. March Zuma
    1. Continue identifying dynamic changes and rehearse
    2. Isolate second strain melody in brass
    3. Perform full runs
  2. Danse Jubliante
    1. Continue working to increase tempo on first half
    2. Isolate second half and read in sections
    3. Focus on pushing snare for faster tempo in sixteenth note passages
  3. Bay Town Festival
    1. Isolate syncopated eighth note passages in first section
      1. work to identify similar rhythms throughout the piece
    2. Focus on identifying the melody and counter lines
7/8th Grade

Objectives:
  • Rehearse Pops Music
Warm-Up:
  1. Two selected major scales
  2. Perform 3rds in an additional key
  3. One Octave Bb Chromatic Scale
Music Rehearsal:
  1. Superman Theme
    1. Rehearse transition into and out of 4/4 from 6/8
    2. Begin to incorporate accents throughout
    3. Work to increase tempo of 6/8
  2. Defying Gravity
    1. Continue to reinforce syncopated passages from previous rehearsals
    2. Isolate short passages of melody for rhythmic accuracy
    3. Begin to work from the end back in short passages
    4. Work to encourage finding syncopation individually in parts

    1. Discuss important rules for sustained parts
    2. Isolate chorus section for rhythmic accuracy in all voices

Warm-Up:

  2. Relative minor and 3rds in selected keys
  3. One Octave Bb Chromatic Scale
  4. Selected Bach Chorale
Music Rehearsal:
  1. Mary Poppins
    1. Isolate “Feed the Birds”
      1. work to soften breaks in all voices
      2. discuss proper balance
    2. Isolate the moving sixteenth passage at the end/closing section
      1. Work on repeated sixteenth/eighth passage to improve counting through
