5th

Objectives:
  • Rehearse full band pieces, moving to two
  • Rehearse Concert Bb Scale
  • Solo Selection
Warm-Up:
  1. Bb Major Scale on Pg. 28 #147
  2. Rehearse Full Chromatic Scale from Concert Bb to Concert Bb

Music Rehearsal:

  1. March Winds
    1. Isolate the faster snare section with Josh and others for ensemble hits
    2. Continue developing a sense of balance among voices
    3. Perform full run
  2. The Lost City
    1. Identify different sections and perform each to hear differences
    2. Identify how different sections work together throughout
  3. Look for new pieces

6th Grade

Objectives:
  • Rehearse Pieces, focusing on dynamics
  • Work to develop move visual communication between ensemble and director
  • Create Accompanist Schedule
Warm-Up:
  1. EE Pg. 40 #1, 2 in all four keys
  2. Bb Chromatic Scale
Music Rehearsal:
  1. Danse Jubliante
    1. Perform full runs
  2. Bay Town Festival
    1. Rehearse trombone and timbale section
    2. Isolate trumpet melody section for accuracy
    3. Begin performing full runs
  3. Chant and Tribal Dance
    1. continue working to incorporate accents into performances
    2. Rehearse the layering of voices, working toward balance

7/8th Grade

Music Rehearsal:

  1. Superman Theme
    1. Continue playing full runs to steady the tempo
    2. Work to increase contrast between middle section and march sections
    3. Reinforce accents throughout
  2. Defying Gravity
    1. Reinforce the syncopated entrances leading into the chorus, working to prevent hesitation
    2. Continue to reinforce the last four measures in the flute and clarinet
    3. Perform full runs, working to control dynamic
  3. Tomorrow
    1. Perform full runs working on balance among voices 
    2. Work to increase watching for shaping of lines throughout piece

Objectives:
  • Rehearse Pops Music
  • Look for Fine Arts Program
  • Create Solo Accompanist Schedule
Warm-Up:
  1. Two selected major scales
  2. Relative minor and 3rds in selected keys
  3. One Octave Bb Chromatic Scale
  4. Selected Bach Chorale
Music Rehearsal:
  1. Mary Poppins
    1. Isolate the transition into “Step In Time” for pitch accuracy
    2. Isolate ending and possibly change to eliminate separate ensemble entrance.
    3. Perform full runs to build endurance
  1. Sinatra!
    1. Perform each selection in it’s entirety working to clean ensemble rhythms and articulations
      1. Reinforce listening across the section and band in unison passages
    2. Work for more uniform releases within sections
    3. Perform full runs

    1. Continue adding shaping to supporting lines working to create more gradual crescendos and not dropping the line before the climax
    2. Work to incorporate shaping in supporting lines throughout as they interact with the melody
